Biodiversity & Environment News

In 2023, as part of Buckinghamshire Councils “Enhancing our Green Spaces” initiative, Seer Green Parish Council sought funding for an environmental/biodiversity study from the Denham, Gerrards Cross & the Chalfonts Community Board of Bucks Council. The survey was carried out during 2023 by Future Nature WTC (Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust BOWT) and looked at Parish Council owned land – Green Wood, Green Meadow, the Recreation Ground & Jubilee Walk.

The survey provided a baseline of the current environment and also recommendations on how the Parish Council could look after this land and improve it from a biodiversity standpoint

The Parish Council realised that this is not a task that they could carry out alone and also there was significant expertise in the village to help drive it forward and so established a working group to look at opportunities for environment enhancement and to engage with community groups

As of Spring 2024, we are right at the start of the project and are looking at a number of potential projects to both enhance the Parish Council owned land but also to encourage residents to help improve the natural environment and increase biodiversity.

These projects will require support from Seer Green Parish Council & Community and also will require funding to be sourced so they will by their nature take time to roll out but we hope that over the years, we will see a genuine improvement in our natural environment.
