Green Meadow, located on School Lane, adjacent to Seer Green Church of England School, provides a playground and seating for all ages
to enjoy.
In
2023, as a result of a village Crowdfunding initiative and generous
donations from Seer Green Gardeners and Jordans Environment Trust (JET) along
with funding from the Parish Council, we reached our target of being able to plant
two trees in Green Meadow. One tree was to
commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Tree and one to mark King Charles
III’s Coronation. The two trees are an Acer freemanii Autumn Blaze (Freeman's Maple) and a Tilia cordata (Small-leaved
Lime).
2015 saw the introduction of a new rubberised path across Green Meadow from the Stable
Lane corner to the gate that leads down to the school in order to provide a
safer route to school and to relieve some of the congestion on the pavement. We
were grateful to receive significant funding from Buckinghamshire Council and the
Living Streets charity for this project.
In 2013, the Parish Council purchased four extra swings, two
of which are bird’s nest swings, accommodating a number of children at any one
time, a multispinner carousel and a raft springer. Specifically designed for
toddlers, there is a home/ garden play area, small slide and two cradle swings. The Parish Council funding for this equipment
was substantially increased by an Awards for All grant from the Big Lottery
Fund for £10,000 and a £2,500 grant from the Buckinghamshire County Council and
further funding from the Jolly Cricketers and Jordans Environment Trust.
In 2012 children came to plant hedging/trees as part of the Woodland Trust's Jubilee Woods project to celebrate the Queen’s reign and they are from a range of trees to encourage wildlife. The saplings were planted in Green Meadow by Seer Green Brownies and included a Royal Oak, grown from seed gathered from the Royal Estate, to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
In 2003 a Trio Venturer playframe was installed. A generous contribution was made by Brett Environment Trust and £5,000 was raised by supporters who took part in a Richmond to Windsor cycle ride.
The Jolly Gerald see-saw was installed in 2002 thanks to fund raising by the Seer Green Playground Committee.
The slide was installed in 1990 with a contribution from the Parents Organisations and Jordans Environment Trust.
